Build. More. Housing. (And Lower the Rents!)
Build. More. Housing. (And Lower the Rents!)
The rents in Manhattan are soaring.
Today's average rent in Manhattan is more than $5,300. This is in part because we’re dramatically lagging other boroughs when it comes to creating new housing.
It's time that we build more housing and tackle the skyrocketing rents:
Create 100,000 new homes to offer many more opportunities to live in the greatest place on Earth.
Generate a borough-wide housing plan that proactively identifies sites where deep and meaningful affordable housing is achievable.
Build new Mitchell-Lama middle class housing on public land.
Use appointment powers to ensure that affordable housing is a priority.
End harmful policies that prevent new housing from being built.
